Es gracioso que siendo contador de números se haya terminado por convertir en contador de historias. El mejor de los suyos. Hasta la fecha fue el mejor guionista español, ¿y de Europa? je, es cierto están los italianos, pero es que él también escribió para esa raza bendita de directores italianos que hicieron pequeñas piezas de neorealismo. No se equivocaría uno si lo calificara a Azcona como a uno de los mejores guionistas de Europa... Y ahí viene la comparación con los yankis y los rusos... Y qué se yo me parece que de los guionistas del mundo, Rafael Azcona tenía esa maravillosa capacidad de darle a sus guiones tanta fibra como las que cargan las buenas novelas. Eso. Los guiones de Azcona parecían buenas novelas bien adaptadas, cosa rara de encontrar cuando se lleva la literatura al cine. Y cuando tuvo que adaptar como en La lengua de las mariposas, lo hizo con esa maestría del buen sastre que sabe convertir un sobretodo en saco. Bueno, se murió y realmente ha vivido muy bien su vida, si no fíjense lo que nos dejó:
